My Story

My advocacy is rooted in lived experience.

Beginning in my early teens, I experienced grooming, online grooming, sexual violence, coercive control, attempted trafficking, and severe domestic violence that nearly claimed my life. As I grew older, I encountered repeated patterns of exploitation within nightlife environments and experienced situations that repeatedly placed me at risk of human trafficking and prostitution-like dynamics. Along the way, I also experienced repeated systemic failures that left me questioning why so many warning signs were overlooked instead of addressed.

These experiences exposed me to realities that many people never see.

I witnessed how grooming often begins with trust rather than force. I saw how manipulation can be disguised as opportunity, mentorship, success, or belonging. I experienced environments where exploitation was normalized, boundaries were tested, and vulnerable people were left unprotected. Over time, I realized these were not isolated incidents. They were patterns.

Because these experiences began at such a young age and continued over many years, they gave me a survivor-informed understanding of how predators build trust, manipulate vulnerability, and gradually exploit those they target. They taught me to recognize behavioural patterns, identify warning signs, and understand the tactics used to groom, coerce, and control others. That perspective has become one of the foundations of my advocacy and continues to shape the way I approach research, education, prevention, and policy reform.

Today, I am dedicated to helping others recognize those same patterns before harm occurs. Through public speaking, survivor advocacy, research, media, and more, I work to raise awareness about all these dangers while advocating for stronger systems of accountability, prevention, and survivor protection.

My goal is simple: to help create safer communities and a better future for the next generation.

My Mission

"From Silence to Flight" represents my journey from surviving in silence to using my voice to create meaningful change. For years, I questioned my own experiences. I was gaslit, told to stay quiet, that I was overreacting, exaggerating, or that what happened to me never even happened.

The butterfly has become a symbol of my journey. During my healing, I found an injured butterfly with a folded and crumpled wing. I cared for it, uncertain whether it would ever fly again. Against the odds, it healed, opened its wings, and flew away.

Like that butterfly, my wings are not untouched. But they are stronger because of everything I've overcome.

From Silence to Flight is a reminder that healing is possible, that our voices matter, and that by breaking the silence, we can help create safer communities and a better future for the next generation. It is also a reminder to listen with compassion, seek truth over comfort, and never dismiss or minimize someone's lived experiences.
